Port of Oakland Protesters

As of 7:45 a.m., approximately 150 protesters are spread at several locations throughout the marine terminal areas.  Significant law enforcement presence from the Oakland Police Department and Alameda County Sheriff's Office are on scene to maintain safety and to take actions to keep the truck and labor entrances clear.  Thus far trucks have been gaining access to the terminals.

Longshore labor has been arriving to the maritime area and in some cases has not been crossing the picket lines.  An arbitration process has been initiated.

We will keep you updated regularly throughout the day as this situation evolves.

Jean Banker/Deputy Executive Director & Acting Maritime Director
